Course overview
This course is designed for all teachers and newly qualified graduates interested in the increasingly popular area of gifted education.
Prior knowledge of gifted education is not required as you will learn about different constructs of giftedness and talent and explore barriers that impact on the demonstration or realisation or gifts and talents in learners.
This course draws on a range of national and international research on gifted and talented learners and will provide you with the knowledge and expertise to design a theoretically sound and responsive learning environment for all learners. -
Learning outcomes
At completion of this course, students will be able to:- Demonstrate in-depth understanding of specific theories underpinning constructs of giftedness and talent.
- Explain some of the issues related to the social and cultural understandings of giftedness.
- Critically examine and analyse specific curriculum models and policies.
- Express informed opinions about particular areas of current interest in gifted education.
- Make effective use of evidence –based research in addressing professional situations in practice.
