Course overview
This course facilitates critical engagement with current research in educational psychology.
You will develop a deeper understanding of how cognitive, motivational and social factors relate to student learning and outcomes. Students are encouraged to discuss and draw connections with implications for classroom practice, as well as wider social implications.
Assessments provide a highly scaffolded taste of the process of conducting research in educational psychology, helping to prepare you for independent study. -
Learning outcomes
At completion of this course, students will be able to:- Critically examine current literature in the field of educational psychology.
- Critically examine both the process and outcomes of educational psychology research.
- Critically discuss the relevance of educational psychology research findings for classroom practice.
- Critically discuss cognitive, motivational and social factors that impact on student motivation.
- Utilise current educational psychology findings to engage in high level discussions about students and their learning, teachers and their teaching.
