Learning outcomes
At the completion of this course, it is intended that students will be able to:- Identify the cultural influences that have contributed to the development of their own personal identities and world views, and analyse the implications for their work as practitioners.
- Discuss the implications of the Treaty of Waitangi and the structural relationships of cultural groups within society in Aotearoa/New Zealand for counselling practitioners.
- Demonstrate critical awareness of the broad cultural issues relevant to counselling theory and practice in Aotearoa/ New Zealand.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of cultural identities and the interaction of various cultural influences in the lives of individuals and their relationships.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for effective counselling practice with culturally diverse clients.
