A critical examination of the concept, role, purpose and benefits of supervision in a wide range of professions. The rationale for supervision within professional and organisational contexts in health, counselling and human services, with reference to the ethical requirements will be examined. The knowledge and skills required to offer supervision in professional contexts will be explored in depth.

Learning outcomes
At completion of this course, students will be able to:- Critically explore the mandate for supervision in a range of health, education and human services professions.
- Critically examine the location of supervision in the context of organisational culture and the management of professional practice.
- Discuss the knowledge and skills necessary to develop an effective supervision relationship.
- Demonstrate a range of skills and interventions which facilitate best practice in supervision.
