Effective social and community leadership requires a strong and critical ethical foundation. Topics include the professional identity and values of social and community sector leadership, social justice, ethical and authentic leadership, and human systems thinking. Leadership that honours the Treaty of Waitangi, diversity, and equity, and actions based on those values, will be explored.

Learning outcomes
At completion of this course, students will be able to:- Demonstrate understanding of the values, actions and contexts of social and community sector leadership internationally and in Aotearoa New Zealand;
- Critically evaluate issues and tensions associated with ethical and authentic leadership exercised in and across organisational contexts;
- Demonstrate the ability to articulate and defend a coherent model of leadership that promotes professional identity and social justice in the social and community sectors.
