Description
While the teacher remains responsible for their students learning and behaviour, teacher’s aides often undertake the task of working with high needs students in guided or instructional settings. This can be challenging without understanding the behaviours and strategies that lead to becoming effective readers and writers.
This workshop will support teacher’s aides to understand the reading and writing processes and provide knowledge to support the capability to interact with students in a way that maximizes learning opportunities. Participants will also be directed to support material that will further develop their personal expertise.
There will be an opportunity to design a learning experience for a student in their context and time will be allocated to collaboratively address personal challenges faced in the role of supporting literacy for these learners.
